Classical Oil Painting at the Winona Arts Center

I will once again be hosting weekly classes every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to noon.  Our first class is September 8, 2026. The cost is only $25 per class for members of the Winona Arts Center, $30 for non-members.  It is not required to pre-register, but it's highly recommended.  Space will be very limited with only one person per table.

We will be studying the basics of building up an oil painting in layers and working in the genre of still life. The program is made to be very beginner friendly, with no experience necessary. It's also great for experienced painters.  Weekly topics will include drawing, color, and composition.  We will work through these in a slow progression throughout the year to avoid overwhelm and keep things fun and casual.  You'll be free to work at your own pace for each painting.  If you attend regularly,  your paintings will grow in level of complexity. Basic painting supplies will be provided to you, a recommended supply list of extra items will also be provided.

If you're interested in reserving a spot, email Jen Benson @ [email protected] and mail check payment to: Winona Arts Center 228 E. 5th St. Winona, MN 55987. Please include a memo with the class date.

I'm very excited to be back at WAC,  I hope to see you there!
